We continue to work on some of the = 220;off to the side” clean up of storm damage. We had hoped to use the equipment from Benson tha= t came in and mulched the cities tree debris, but their equipment is a lit= tle too big to get down and back up our hill. Instead, we will burn off the remaining couple of piles = in the near future on a calm morning.

We are mowing greens everyday and will= continue to do so throughout the playing season. Tee boxes, fairways and rough are being mowed as nee= ded.

The new red and gold tee box is now be= ing used on hole #10. It is = 269 yards to the center of the green from the back of the tee box.

Starting the week of October 6th, we w= ill begin work on a new green on hole #15. The new green will be approximately 4500 sq. ft. in size, c= ompared to the 2500 sq. ft. we have now.&= nbsp; The green will be completed this fall and we will seed the gr= een in the spring. While thi= s green is out of play, we will be using the chipping green as the replace= ment hole. If will play to a= yardage of 110-130 yards. I am usually not one to play much R= 20;fall” golf, but I find myself trying to figure out how I can find= or make some time in my day to get out to the course to play. From tee to green, I am not sure our c= ourse has ever played any better. <= /span>Get out and play before it is too late.

There are several projects that the cr= ew will be working on this fall. First off, we are going to dig out the insides of the 18th tee box an= d replace the compacted soil and clay with new sand and peat mixture. This should take care of the iss= ue of keeping this tee box alive for the entire year. For the remaining weeks of this season and for t= he beginning of next year, we will play from in front of the main tee box.=

Beginning the week of October 6th, we = will be utilizing the chipping green as the 15th hole as we begin to rebui= ld the 15th green. Over the = last few years, this green has been more and more difficult to keep health= y and playable. Jeremiah wil= l begin reshaping and expanding this green from its present size of 2500 s= q. ft. to a new size of approximately 4500 sq. ft. The green will be completed this fall and then seed= ed first thing in the spring. If we get a normal spring (not like this year), we should be playing the= new green sometime the first part of June.

Also this fall, we will begin tearing = apart the deck that was damaged in the storm. Our plan is to have a majority of it torn apart, just le= aving the handicap ramp for the winter months. Then, new spring we will have a local contractor build = a deck of similar size and style for us.&= nbsp; The plan is to have the deck completed by the first part of n= ext May. We will also replac= e the four windows and the door to the deck next spring. See you on the course.

As we enter the last few weeks of good= weather, make it a point to get out and play a round or two of golf. Keep us in mind for your lunch a= nd dinner plans this fall. W= e will continue to run daily specials for lunch and supper. Check out the calendar for the hours we ar= e open and the weekly special emails that are sent out for any other chang= es.

We plan on staying open on Wednesday n= ights and Friday nights throughout the winter months. We are also booking Christmas and holiday partie= s, so if you have an event that we can help out with, give Kari a call. The same goes for events in 20= 09; it is never too early to= book your wedding or reunion.

Please join us at our closing party on= Saturday, October 4th. The = day begins with the Last Blast event and then concludes with happy hour at= 6 p.m. and hors d’oeuvres at 7 p.m. followed by a little karoke at = 8 p.m. Give the pro shop a call to sign up for the golf and just show up f= or the party that night.

This years’ event was won by the= “young” bucks by a score of 12-10, in a rain shortened event.= Thanks to our two captains:= Jeff Anderson for the ̶= 0;old” guys and Kevin McFarland for the “young” bucks.

Our last golf event for the year is sc= heduled for October 4th. Sig= n up sheets are in the pro shop. Stop in or call in to sign up. =

EVERYONE is welcome to join the club f= or our closing party that night. Happy hour is from 6-8 p.m. and complimentary hors d’oeuvres fr= om 7-9 p.m. Come one, come all.

quick daily lunch features and nightly dinner features. Happy Hours runs from 4-5:30 p.m. on

As most of you are aware, in June of t= his year, the Montevideo School Board voted to discontinue funding for the= Junior High and Varsity Golf program.&nb= sp; Shortly after that decision, our organization was formed. The group is a 501© non-prof= it corporation.

Over the last couple of months, the Sc= hool Board has been discussing their decision to eliminate golf and are lo= oking at putting the golf program back into the budget. No matter what happens with regards to the Sch= ool Board, this group is going to help provide financial help to the golf = program. Either by raising m= oney to fund
the entire program or in some lesser form by helping to provide equipmen= t and uniforms.

This group is looking for your help. First off, they are looking t= o build their data base of former Mohawk and Thunderhawk golf team members= . They are in need of addres= ses and email addresses of anyone that used to
play golf for the high school. If you, your son or daughter or anyone you know were members of the t= eam, could you please forward the name and information to Jan Sachariason = at rjsach@charter.net.

to help pay for the fees associated with establishing the corporation.
