Rally for a Cure
We did it! Thanks to everyone that participated in the Rally for a Cure
charity event at the Crossings Aug. 21. We set a record for participants
and also for money raised for breast cancer research.
We had 106 golfers and six special quests, aka Bob Kruse, Ken Kittleson,
Greg Mulder, Rob Sachariason, Steve Beals, Ken Olson and Bob Lauritsen.
They were our beverage "ladies" on the course and also "played" in our
tournament. Bob Kruse provided "entertainment" at the end of the
program.
I want to give a special thank you to everyone from the golf course for
making this an extra special day. We had a challenge given to us last
year by Bob Kruse to have 80 women players for this years' event and we
surpassed our goal by 26, by doing so he donated $1000 to the Susan G.
Komen fight against breast cancer research fund. Rob Sachariason, Steve
Beals, Ken Olson, Marilyn Larson and Al Rysdahl contributed an
additional $250.
Thank you to the committee that worked so hard on making this happen,
Sheryl Mann, Jan Sachariason, Carol Mulder, Mary Lou Lanes, Sandra
Ryman, Jackie Torvik, Bobbi Sides and to the grounds crew for getting
the ribbon painted on #1 fairway. So many people helped and I may have
not mentioned your name but I thank-you from the bottom of my heart. As
a 22 year cancer survivor, it brings tears to my eyes when I see people
come together to fight this unforgiving disease.
Several members donated door prizes which were greatly appreciated. The
total amount of money raised was $3370!
Bob Kruse again challenged us for next year to have 200 players and he
will donate $2000. Of course we accepted! So mark your calendars for
August 12, 2008 and get your team together. God Bless all of you. You made a
difference and you are all winners in the fight against breast cancer!
